Readers of all ages will explore space this summer as the Scio Public Library presents “A Universe of Stories” during its summer library program. This theme was chosen to help inspire children of all ages to dream big, believe in themselves, and create their own story. It also coincides with NASA’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. The Scio Public Library’s summer program encourages families to enjoy the public library and to read for pleasure. There are two aspects of the program:The Summer Reading Club: Children, teens and adults participate by reading through the summer. Incentive prizes are given to readers as they reach reading milestones. Readers may sign-up for the club beginning June 3rd. The focus is to help children maintain and strengthen their reading skills while on summer break from school.Summer Program Activities: These activities will be focused on space and astronomy. Children ages 2-14 are encouraged to attend. All children may participate in these program events, regardless if they have or have not signed up for the “Summer Reading Club”. The kick-off date for summer activities is June 28th.
