CITY MANAGER - The Scio City manager is an official appointed as the administrative manager of the city, in a council-manager form of city government. MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL - The mayor-council government system is a system of local government in which policy-making and administrative powers are vested in an elective mayor and council. CITY ELECTIONS - The Mayor and six city council positions serve as the “elected officials” for the City of Scio. All of the elected positions serve a term of four years. SCIO MUNICIPAL CODE - Municipal ordinances, law that are enacted and enforced by city or county government(s). LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE - The Library Advisory Committee was created by the Mayor and/or City Council. The committee serves as advisors on policy matters to the City Council and City Manager who are responsible for the management and administration of city policies. The Committee studies existing policy and makes recommendations for change or implementation. Although they do not have final authority to make or enforce rules, their research and advice to decision makers contribute to effective changes in local and state governments. PLANNING COMMISSIONS - The City Planning Commission, except as otherwise instructed by Scio City Council, recommends and make suggestions to the council and other public authorities plans for regulating the future growth, development and beautification of the city in respect to its public and private buildings and works, streets, parks, grounds, and vacant lots, and plans consistent with future growth and development of the city.
