Boards & Commissions

The City of Scio has several boards and commissions that help the city function to the best of it’s ability. LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD - The Library Advisory Board is created by the Mayor and/or City Council. The board serves as advisors on policy matters to the City Council and City Manager who are responsible for the management and administration of city policies. The Board studies existing policy and makes recommendations for change or implementation. Although they do not have final authority to make or enforce rules, their research and advice to decision makers contribute to effective changes in local and state governments. BUDGET COMMITTEE - The Budget Committee assists the City Council and City Manager in the development of the annual city budget. PARKS AND TREE ADVISORY COMMITTEE - The Parks & Tree Advisory Committee was created by the Mayor and/or City Council. The committee shall serve as an “Advisory Committee” to the Scio City Council in all matters pertaining to the development and preservation standards for street trees, and landscaping requirements associated with development inside the Scio city limits. PLANNING COMMISSIONS - The City Planning Commission, except as otherwise instructed by Scio City Council, recommends and make suggestions to the city council regarding future growth, development and beautification of the city in respect to its public and private buildings, streets, parks, grounds, and vacant lots, and plans consistent with future growth and development of the city.
